The good, the bad and the wealthy.
As a Doctor with an interest in Complementary Therapy, I am often asked to recommend a treatment or practitioner. Unfortunately I do not have all the answers. Like you, I am still learning and my recommendation is as good as the knowledge I have at the time, balancing with availability of a treatment you might require in your locality. As a Doctor, I am allowed to recommend other Medical Practitioners who may be able to help you. My Medical Qualification does not allow me to recommend any Non-Medical Complementary Practitioner. I am reliant on professional bodies to regulate the Competency of Non-Medical Practitioners and I am aware that good and honest therapists can be difficult to find. European regulations, I believe, will in the future help us in this respect. However I have confidence in the group of therapist I have currently working at my clinic. I have the luxury of being able to consult with them on treatment out-with my field and likewise they will have a similar opportunity to learn from me, the medical aspects of your ailments. I can therefore confidently commend to you my staff but with the caution that if you have any uncertainty or concerns, consult with me or your General Practitioner.
Agony Aunt.
I have had numerous enquiries on the ‘best’ Complementary Therapy I would recommend for specific illnesses. I am in the process of compiling a Questions and Answers Database from the emails I have responded to. This will be available shortly but if you have a specific query, my staff and I shall be happy to reply to you. Bear in mind that this may be an automated response, however, if you have no satisfaction with this, do enquire further. I am also in the process of compiling an Illness Database with appropriate links to the wealth of information available on the World Wide Web. I hope to have these available in due course.
